Texas Health Resources to Build New $95 Million Hospital
FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Health Resources, a non-profit company that operates a network of hospitals and health facilities in the North Texas region, has announced plans to construct a new $95 million hospital to serve Tarrant County residents. To be located just west of the current facility, the new six-story Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South hospital will be 228,300 square feet and feature a glass curtain exterior. The Beck Group, headquartered in Dallas, is the architect on the project.
“This new hospital will support our community’s growth, our patients’ needs and advances in medical technology. We believe it is an important step in enhancing our patients’ experience with us and continuing to deliver the highest level of personalized care,” said Ken Finch, president and CEO of Texas Health Huguley Hospital, in a statement.
The new hospital will feature private patient rooms that are more than double the size of the current rooms; wireless technology and individual climate controls in each patient room; new women’s services department; new lobby and registration area; outpatient radiology center; gift shop; chapel; landscaped courtyard; and infrastructure for new medical technology installed in the ceiling. The new facility will also place focus on energy efficiency and acoustics.
The existing facility, which is located just off Interstate 35W in Bruleson, Texas, will continue to house ICU, cardiovascular critical care, the emergency department and heart catheterization lab. The inpatient and outpatient behavioral health center will also remain in the current location.
After the new hospital is complete, the existing patient tower will have space to expand current or future service lines, according to the health care organization.
“This new hospital is a sign of the successful partnership between Texas Health Resources and Adventist Health System to more effectively meet the health care needs of this community,” said Doug Hawthorne, FACHE, CEO of Texas Health Resources, in a statement. “Our collaboration has already made significant progress in the coordination of care across the spectrum of health, from prevention and wellness to acute hospital care. Now, we will move up to the next level of patient safety, quality and continuity of care together.”
Texas Health Resources and Adventist Health System, the original parent company of Huguley Memorial Medical Center, formed a joint venture company in May 2012 to own and manage the hospital. The two parent organizations have adopted the name of Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South.
Texas Health Huguley includes a 223-bed acute care hospital, a medical intensive care unit and a cardiovascular critical care unit, an accredited bone and joint center, an accredited chest pain center, behavioral health center, women’s services, an award-winning emergency department and a fitness center.
The new building, which will connect to the current facility on the first floor, is scheduled to be complete in summer 2016.
