Portable Examination Device
A portable examination device is currently going through the FDA clearance process with the hope of helping health care providers connect with patients who cannot visit the office. If approved, the device would monitor a patient’s basic health parameters by taking his or her temperature, recording sounds of auscultations from its built-in stethoscope and documenting video footage of ear and throat exams. This information is then relayed to a physician in high-definition images and sounds without the patient having to leave their home. Developed by Tyto Care, the device also comes with a built-in tongue depressor and otoscope, and exams can be done live with a physician of choice or on the patient’s own time with results sent after. The device’s battery is designed to live throughout 25 exams between charges.
