AMFP Opens New York Chapter

NEW YORK—The Association of Medical Facility Professionals (AMFP) announced recently that it has officially approved a new chapter of the organization, to be based in New York. The organization said that over 125 New York City-area healthcare “built-environment” professionals have already joined the new chapter. Also, executives from several of the New York region’s healthcare systems will join the new chapter’s board of directors.
Among the new AMFP chapter board’s top executives are President Andrew Weinberg of LF Driscoll Healthcare, Vice President Diana Henkel of NYU Langone Health, Vice President
Loida Ramos of Mount Sinai Health System and Vice President Jonathan Cogswell of Northwell Health (Manhattan Region). Other members of the new board hail from various New York-area healthcare service and design firms, including Yu & Associates, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Mohawk Group, JB&B, Francis Cauffman Architects, The Tocci Group, Lotus Safety Solutions and the DLR Group.
“We are actively organizing events to satisfy the need for connection among local healthcare professionals in these unique and challenging times,” chapter president Andrew Weinberg said in a recent release about AMFP’s New York chapter. “The new chapter will be strongly engaged in supporting the national organization’s mission to enhance the knowledge and professional development of our members.”
Given the ongoing challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, membership overall in AMFP has increased in 2020, and the New York City area was hit especially hard this year—which may have contributed to the foundations of the new local group.
AMFP is a nonprofit organization that fosters education and resources to fellow healthcare-built professionals, and works to build new connections between hospital administrators and real estate directors, designers, contractors and academics.
“AMFP NYC has launched with a bang, and we’re excited to carry this momentum forward,” Weinberg said. “We are actively organizing events to satisfy the need for connection among local healthcare professionals in these unique and challenging times.”
