Improved High Speed Network to Improve Health Care for Rural and Underserved Illinois Patients

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — A new $21 million fiber-optic medical network is under way for the Illinois Rural HealthNet, designed to increase access to advanced medical care for residents of rural and underserved areas across Illinois.

The Illinois Rural HealthNet (IRHN) — a nonprofit network of health care providers — signed a contract with Omaha, Neb.-based communications and security services provider G4S Technology to implement a system linking 85 rural health care entities to urban medical centers.

CHICAGO — A competitive, lump-sum bid approach to delivery resulted in substantial savings for Central DuPage Hospital’s complex construction project.

A new 202-bed patient tower at the Winfield, Ill. hospital opened last summer to replace general medical service beds in CDH’s original facility, built in the 1970s.

New Hospital Project Builder Selected

NEW LENOX, Ill. – Morgan/Harbour Construction was selected to complete a build-out for Southwest Dermatology within the Silver Cross Medical Office Building at the Silver Cross Replacement Hospital in New Lenox.

The new Southwest Dermatology project will include the 2,100 square-foot build-out of a customized interior suite with a waiting area, examination rooms and office space.

Ben Warriner is leading the construction team, which includes Project Manager Josh Peters. Design Organization Inc. is providing the architectural services.

Reed Completes University Hospital Renovation

CHICAGO — Reed Construction recently completed a renovation at the radiology department at the University of Chicago Medical Center’s Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital.

Reed Construction renovated the space to accommodate the installation of an uninterrupted power supply system designed to provide back-up power to the department’s three CT Scanners.

Cambridge Finances New Nursing Home Projects

OTTAWA, Ill. — Cambridge Realty Capital announced has closed on a $15.3 million, 40-year term loan to finance the construction of the Ottawa Pavilion, a 129-bed skilled care nursing home in Ottawa, Ill.

The Illinois-based Cambridge is a limited liability company that underwrites FHA-insured HUD loans for its property owners. The fully-amortized loan was processed using HUD’s Section 232 funding program. The loan’s interest rate was not made public.

CHICAGO — Reed Construction’s Healthcare Group has been selected to complete a renovation within the radiology department at the University of Chicago Medical Center’s Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital.  The general contractor with offices in the Windy City was selected to renovate an area within the hospital’s radiology department.
