Portland Welcoming Long-Overdue Medical Office Building
By Eric Althoff
PORTLAND, Ore.—Developer Rendina Healthcare Real Estate, which is based in Jupiter, Florida, has been assigned the task of developing the first new medical office building in Portland in 50 years.
The project will be situated in the expanding West End section of Oregon’s largest city. In fact, the neighborhood itself will lend its name to the healthcare project, which will be called the West End Medical Center at 12th & Taylor.
Seven floors of medical use space spread out over 140,000 square feet will share the new building with some 8,000 square feet of retail space on the first floor—as well as space specifically for parking in the structure. The Class A medical building will be constructed at the same time as a new Ritz Carlton hotel, to be located adjacent to the clinical setting.
The Portland Clinic, which has operated in the city for a century, will be the anchor tenant of the healthcare floors, Rendina announced. The Portland Clinic’s medical facilities at the West End complex will entail such services as primary care, dermatology, cardiology, internal medicine, diabetes care, gynecology, rheumatology, urology and orthopedics.
In a statement regarding the buildout, Portland Clinic CEO Dick Clark said these new spaces will enable his firm to serve even more people in the West End.
“We look forward to continuing our personalized, high-quality care in this new first-class medical facility, which will be conveniently located, modern and contemporary in design, and packed with health and wellness services for everyone’s needs,” Clark said.
Added Steve Barry, Rendina’s president: “The Portland Clinic’s involvement, combined with the premier location of the West End Medical Center at 12th & Taylor, will make this project the blueprint for the future of healthcare delivery in a downtown setting.”
Cushman & Wakefield has been hired by Rendina to provide leasing services at the West End complex, which is expected to open for the summer of 2023.
