DANVILLE, Pa.—Warfel Construction joined forces with Acadia Healthcare and Geisinger to commemorate the start of construction for the Acadia Geisinger Behavioral Health Hospital in Danville on May 8, 2024.

The 72,578-square-foot medical facility is set to introduce 96 new patient beds and will serve more than 1.2 million people across 45 counties in Pennsylvania. With a focus on delivering essential care for individuals grappling with behavioral health disorders such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), this facility will offer a beacon of hope and a path to recovery for adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients.

This new hospital will also serve as a teaching hospital, training students and residents from Geisinger’s College of Health Sciences. The design firm for the project is Stengel Hill.

President of Warfel Construction, Conlan Swope, emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to enhancing community well-being, stating, “We are deeply honored to contribute to this initiative and recognize the paramount importance of accessible behavioral health services within our communities.”

In addition to Warfel’s extensive behavioral health portfolio, this collaboration represents Warfel Construction’s second partnership with Acadia Healthcare and Geisinger in the development of behavioral health hospitals. Geisinger and Acadia opened a similar hospital in Moosic in August 2023.

“More than just a new building, this behavioral health hospital is a testament to our dedication to nurturing a better, healthier community,” said Rusty Hoffman, Project Executive.

Projected for completion in the Spring of 2025, Warfel Construction remains committed to positively impacting our communities by applying our specialized expertise in constructing these facilities.

EL PASO, Texas—Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) and Acadia Healthcare Company Inc. have topped out the new addition to Rio Vista Behavioral Health Hospital in El Paso, marking the construction midpoint.

The 52,000-square-foot addition includes two new behavioral hospital units totaling 40 additional beds, outdoor recreation spaces, a new ground-up one-story outpatient center and 14,000 square feet of added parking. Located at 1390 Northwestern Drive, the project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2023.

“Reaching the halfway mark in the construction of any project is cause for celebration, but this milestone means we are one step closer to Rio Vista expanding its breadth of treatment services to the people of El Paso,” said Zack Rogers, AP’s project executive and vice president. “As rates of mental illness and addiction continue to rise across the country and in Texas cities like El Paso, this expansion will enable Rio Vista to assist more people.”

Rio Vista Behavioral Health is El Paso’s premier behavioral health hospital, offering comprehensive care for men, women, and children struggling with mental health and substance abuse concerns. The state-of-the-art facility provides inpatient services tailored to each patient’s individual needs on their path to recovery.

Rio Vista Behavioral Health Hospital leadership team was in attendance as AP secured the top beam of the facility to support the work the trade partners have accomplished. Hospital CEO Marie Alvarez also recognized the AP project team and associated trade partners.

“Our team here at Rio Vista Behavioral Health stands proud knowing that in just three short years, we have gained the trust of our community to provide much-needed behavioral services to El Paso and surrounding areas,” said Marie Alvarez, Group CEO at Acadia Healthcare. “This trust was built on our commitment to provide exceptional patient care with a strong focus on clinical integrity and patient safety. We are excited that this expansion will also provide additional inpatient beds and outpatient services to our specialty STAR programs that serve the unique needs of our Active-Duty Military, Veteran and First Responder populations.”
