EL PASO, Texas – (June 12, 2023) – Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a national, family-owned construction management and contracting company, and Acadia Healthcare Company Inc., a leading provider of behavioral healthcare services across the U.S., recently completed a new addition to Rio Vista Behavioral Health Hospital in El Paso, Texas.

The 52,000-square-foot addition includes a pair of newly constructed two-story behavioral hospital units, adding 40 inpatient beds, along with outdoor recreation spaces and a new ground-up one-story outpatient center. As part of the project, the team also renovated 5,000 square feet of the existing 12-bed facility and added 14,000 square feet of parking space. The hospital expansion, at 1390 Northwestern Dr., kicked off construction in February 2022.

“Completing the Rio Vista Behavioral Hospital means additional mental health beds are now available in El Paso. We are pleased that AP played such an integral role in bringing this vital need to the community,” said Addisu Negash, AP Senior Project Manager. “As mental illness needs have increased, so has the need for additional access to care without barriers. Adding beds to Rio Vista and renovating its current space will enable the hospital to better serve patients now and into the future.”

Acadia Healthcare, AP, Rio Vista Hospital, State of Texas representatives, local district representatives, and El Paso city officials celebrated the project’s completion this week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The AP project team and associated trade partners were recognized for their work on the completed project, which enables the hospital to care for more patients in and around El Paso.

As El Paso’s premier behavioral health hospital, Rio Vista Behavioral Health offers comprehensive care for men, women, and children struggling with mental health and substance abuse concerns. The state-of-the-art facility provides inpatient services tailored to each patient’s individual needs on their path to recovery.

Stengel Hill Architects designed the new addition.

AP’s West Texas office is currently working on several area projects including the Mesa building on the University of Texas-Permian Basin campus, Potter County’s District Courts Building in Amarillo, as well as the expansion of the Midland College Pre-K Academy in Midland.

Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) has been a leading national construction management firm for more than 75 years.

Acadia is a leading provider of behavioral healthcare services across the United States. As of June 30, 2021, Acadia operated a network of 229 behavioral healthcare facilities with approximately 10,100 beds in 40 states and Puerto Rico.

PEORIA, Ariz.—Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a national construction management firm and general contractor, and Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals (RRH), a system of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and America Development & Investments LLC (ADI), a healthcare real estate developer based in Dallas, topped out Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital Peoria (RRH Peoria). This marks the official midpoint of the construction process and a key project milestone.

The three-story facility will include 40 patient beds, two high-tech physical therapy gyms, administrative offices, dining and kitchen spaces, and other service and support areas. Once completed, the hospital will offer inpatient rehabilitation care for people with debilitating illnesses and injuries such as stroke and brain injury, as well as other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.

“Following our work on RRH’s Phoenix location, we’re proud to reach this milestone and move one step closer to extending these vital rehabilitation services to Peoria,” said Rob Cortazzo, regional president for AP Southwest. “Our strong partnership with RRH throughout the Southwest and Gulf States regions has allowed us to streamline the preconstruction and construction phases. Peoria is one of many locations we are building with RRH, and we look forward to partnering on additional projects that will expand their services and serve more communities in Arizona.”

The 49,128-square-foot custom-built hospital at 13451 N. 94th Dr., on 3.71 acres, was designed by Callaway Architecture and developed by America Development & Investments.

Scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2022, RRH Peoria will provide comprehensive inpatient physical-medicine rehabilitation therapies using results-oriented, individualized plans of care for patients in the area.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with AP to establish another state-of-the-art Reunion Rehabilitation facility for Arizona patients leaving acute hospital settings. We believe this hospital will set a new standard for the treatment of patients with complex medical needs, allowing them to heal and recover in a comfortable, soothing environment,” said Anis Sabeti, Reunion Board Member. “We are committed to leading the way toward best-in-class, individualized patient care in a competitive and niche market and we are humbled by this opportunity to build long-lasting relationships in the Peoria community.”

The hospital is one in a series of inpatient rehabilitation facilities that RRH plans to develop across the country. In addition to the new Peoria hospital, Adolfson & Peterson and ADI are developing a more than 47,000 square-foot hospital in Englewood, Colo.; a 51,000-square-foot hospital in Phoenix; a 55,617-square-foot hospital in Plano, Texas; and a 50,800-square-foot hospital in Arlington, Texas.

ARLINGTON, Texas—Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a top national construction management firm and general contractor, and Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals, a system of state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, announced the groundbreaking of a new location in Arlington with support from America Development & Investments LLC (ADI), a leading Dallas-based healthcare real estate developer.

Located at 4351 Centreway Place, the hospital will offer inpatient rehabilitation care for people with debilitating illnesses and injuries such as stroke and brain injury, as well as other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.

“AP is proud to add Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital Arlington as the fifth location across three states in our continued partnership with Reunion and ADI,” said Bob Lemke, vice president of operations for AP. “As the demand for accessible resources like this grows alongside DFW’s rising population, AP is looking forward to extending these much-needed services to the Arlington community.”

Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the nation’s fastest-growing regions, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau estimates. Conversely, there is a lack of modern rehabilitation hospitals in the area. As Texas’ seventh-largest city, Arlington will benefit greatly from the services provided at Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital’s latest DFW location.

At 50,800 square feet, the three-story hospital was designed by Callaway Architecture and consists of standard steel construction with masonry veneer. The hospital features food services and dining areas, fitness and physical therapy spaces, medical staff rooms and expansive dayrooms for patients, and an outdoor courtyard for patients to practice walking on various surfaces and inclines. Moreover, the hospital’s location just off I-20 – approximately four miles west of its intersection with Texas State Highway 360 – provides easy access for patients in both North and South Arlington.

“We are very pleased to have our third project starting with Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals and ADI, which will also be our first Reunion project in Texas,” said Mark Daniels, president for Callaway Architecture. “We are also particularly pleased to once again be collaborating with AP and look forward to repeating the success of our earlier collaborative efforts for the Reunion team in Arizona.”

Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital Arlington is expected to open in January 2023 and will provide comprehensive inpatient physical-medicine rehabilitation therapies using results-oriented, individualized plans of care for patients in the Arlington area. The new hospital’s mission is to provide patients with best-in-class care provided by the finest caregivers in a unique, community-centric hospital environment.

The new hospital will also enable DFW residents to build fulfilling careers and join a team of excellent clinicians and support staff, including specialty-trained physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians.

Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital Arlington is one in a series of inpatient rehabilitation facilities that Reunion plans to develop across the country. In addition to the new Arlington hospital, ADI is developing a 55,617-square-foot hospital in Plano, Texas, a 47,000+ square-foot hospital in Englewood, Colorado, a 49,128-square-foot hospital in Peoria, Arizona, and a 51,000-square-foot hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.

PEORIA, Ariz.—Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a top national construction management firm and general contractor, and Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals, a system of state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, today announced the groundbreaking of a new location in Peoria with support from America Development & Investments LLC (ADI), a leading healthcare real estate developer based in Dallas, Texas.

Located at 13451 N. 94th Dr., the hospital will offer inpatient rehabilitation care for people with debilitating illnesses and injuries such as stroke and brain injury, as well as other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions.

“We’re pleased to break ground on our second project with Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals and ADI in the Phoenix metro area,” said Robert Cortazzo, regional president for AP Southwest. “AP’s repeat work on Reunion hospitals in Arizona, Colorado and Texas has enabled us to share best practices during the preconstruction and construction process to mitigate supply chain and labor challenges. We’re excited to do our part in bringing a vital facility to the community of Peoria.”

A recent U.S. Census Bureau report revealed Phoenix as the fastest-growing big city from 2010 and 2020, adding more than 163,000 residents during that time. This growth has spilled over to Phoenix’s West Valley suburbs, including Peoria, which makes the community a prime location for a modern rehabilitation hospital.

Designed by Callaway Architecture, the three-story, custom-built hospital will sit on 3.71 acres, encompass 49,128 square feet and feature 40 patient beds (20-bed nursing units on each floor), two high-tech physical therapy gyms, administrative offices, and dining and kitchen spaces, as well as various back-of-the-house support spaces. AP will also manage a complete interior build-out as well as all associated site work and utility services.

“We are ecstatic to have our second project starting with Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals and ADI in Arizona,” said Mark Daniels, president for Callaway Architecture. “We are also particularly pleased to once again be collaborating with Adolfson & Peterson Construction and look forward to repeating the success of our first collaborative effort on the Reunion Phoenix facility.”

Slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2022, Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital Peoria will provide comprehensive inpatient physical-medicine rehabilitation therapies using results-oriented, individualized plans of care for patients in the area. The new hospital will ultimately provide patients with best-in-class care provided by the finest caregivers in a unique, community-centric hospital environment.

Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital Peoria will also create an opportunity for Phoenix-area residents to build fulfilling careers by joining a team of excellent clinicians and support staff, including specialty-trained physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians.

The hospital is one in a series of inpatient rehabilitation facilities that Reunion plans to develop across the country. In addition to the new Peoria hospital, ADI is developing a 51,000-square-foot hospital in Phoenix; a 47,000+ square-foot hospital in Englewood, Colorado; and a 55,617-square-foot hospital in Plano, Texas; and a 50,800-square-foot hospital in Arlington, Texas.
