NEW YORK CITY—Lendlease, a leading global real estate and investment group, announced today its New York Construction group has started work on Northwell Medical Pavilion – 77th Street, a new 15-floor, 200,000-square-foot outpatient complex on Manhattan’s Upper East Side that will be operated by Northwell Health. Lendlease is providing construction management services for the project, which is scheduled for completion in late 2025.

“We’re incredibly proud to contribute our healthcare construction team’s expertise to this significant project, which is complex not only due to its size and location in the heart of a busy Upper East Side neighborhood, but also because of the scope of patient services it will offer and the variety of systems and technologies those services require,” said Steven Sommer, Executive General Manager and President of New York Construction at Lendlease. “We’ve been working closely with the project team throughout preconstruction to expedite delivery of what will be a best-in-class facility for this city.”

Located at Third Avenue between East 76th and 77th streets, Northwell Medical Pavilion – 77th Street will offer world-class care anchored by innovative programs of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute. In addition to oncology treatment, the center will provide cardiac care, neuroscience programming, imaging and lab testing, as well as holistic wellness services, acute and chronic disease management, social work services and more. The pavilion will feature state-of-the-art technology paired with a patient-centric design including separate floors for clinical space and physician/clinician offices.

Ennead Architects is the core and shell architect for the project, with the design team also including EwingCole as the medical architect, JB&B for MEP engineering and Severud Associates for structural engineering. The building spans a full city block and features a metal and glass base with a faceted glass façade along Third Avenue. As part of ownership’s plans, the project will achieve WELL certification and also comply with New York Local Law 97, which sets carbon emissions caps starting in 2024 for New York City buildings over 25,000 square feet that are subject to benchmarking.

A recent groundbreaking celebration with project partners and local officials signaled that demolition will soon begin, with excavation and foundation work expected to start this spring.

In the U.S., Lendlease offers over 100 years of experience in the construction industry. The firm’s progressive and collaborative approach to providing construction services and solutions has resulted in more than 1,200 client partnerships and nearly 3,000 projects in the last decade. The company offers property solutions through construction management, general contracting, program and project management, design/build and consulting services.
